Leeds United want Daichi Kamada and could now rival Tottenham Hotspur in the race for the Eintracht Frankfurt playmaker.

The Whites have already added one attack-minded midfielder this summer with Brenden Aaronson joining from Red Bull Salzburg.

That’s a very important deal for Jesse Marsch having worked with his fellow American in Austria.

Aaronson is flexible and could even play out wide, leaving Leeds to consider moves for other attacking midfield players this summer.

Charles De Ketalaere has been linked for that very reason but Leeds will have irons in the fire elsewhere.

Leeds United want Daichi Kamada

Reports from Sport1 in Germany now suggest that Leeds are looking towards Eintracht Frankfurt star Daichi Kamada.

Kamada’s contract expires in 2023 and Sport1 claim that Leeds have him on their list of potential signings this summer.

Kamada, 25, may be sold this summer before he simply leaves Frankfurt for nothing next year.

The Japan international joined from Sagan Tosu back in 2017 and has now become a Bundesliga star.

Kamada helped Frankfurt win the Europa League last season and registered nine goals and four assists in all competitions.

Primarily an attacking midfielder who can also feature a little deeper when needed, Kamada has proven himself to be a quality player and was called ‘exceptional’ by ex-Leeds United Ladies star Lucy Ward.

Leeds may now fancy adding him to Marsch’s squad this summer, attacking to take advantage of Kamada’s contract situation.

Leeds won’t be the only team interested in signing Kamada though.

Sport Bild claimed in May that Tottenham were showing a real interest in signing Kamada as they seek a creative midfielder of their own.

That means Leeds won’t have it all their own way for Kamada, and he could be a name to keep a close eye on if De Ketalaere doesn’t arrive.
