Should Leeds United intervene and offer up Marco Silvestri plus cash in exchange for towering centre-back Aden Flint?
The 28-year-old sparked speculation about a move to Leeds on Friday when he ‘liked’ a Twitter post which suggested he should join the Elland Road club.
With Pontus Jansson and Liam Cooper being United’s only recognised centre-backs, Flint, at 6’5, might be ideal for United, but The Mail reported earlier this month that the Robins are looking for around £4 million for his signature.
It is a steep price and the Whites’ Director of Football Victor Orta might not budge, but offering Silvestri in exchange would lower City’s asking price.
The Italian goalkeeper, 26, spent the 2016-17 campaign playing behind Robert Green, but this is more a reflection on Green’s excellent performances than anything else.
The truth is, Silvestri remains a very competent keeper, and he proved as much during their League Cup campaign, but Felix Wiedwald’s arrival this summer means he or Green could leave Elland Road.
If Flint really does have aspirations to join Thomas Christiansen’s side then Silvestri might be the perfect ticket to getting him.
