Leeds United would be beneficiaries if Danny Rose gets his move from Tottenham Hotspur to Manchester United.
The left-back is keen to earn more money, and follow former teammate Kyle Walker out the Tottenham exit door.
Rose is valued at £50 million according to the report, but Tottenham will not get all of the money, instead former club Leeds United stand to net a sum.
The Yorkshire Evening Post reported in 2015 that Leeds are entitled to 10 per cent of any profit made on Rose’s sale, as terms of his 2007 transfer.
Rose joined Spurs from Leeds for £1 million, so if he left Tottenham, for £50 million, Leeds would get 10 per cent of £49 million.
This would be a very welcome £4.9 million fee for Spurs, a stroke of genius for an agreement struck a decade ago, but his destination means it would be bittersweet.
It will be tough for Leeds fans to see one of their former academy stars turning out for bitter rivals Manchester United.
On one hand Rose turned his back on Leeds 10 years ago and any sign of affection towards them is long gone, but Whites fans will certainly be hopeful that when he quits Tottenham – he will choose a different club.
