This week is a crucial one in how the Championship promotion race will shape up over the final couple of months.

At present Norwich City, Sheffield United and Leeds United are separated by just three points at the top.

Four points back, West Bromwich Albion are still hoping to get involved, despite a loss to the Blades at the weekend.

This week Leeds have an opportunity to kill off West Brom’s automatic promotion hopes.

The Whites play twice, visiting QPR tonight as a game in hand.

A win will put them top, seven points ahead of West Brom.

Vctory at home to the Baggies on Friday to follow will place Leeds 10 points ahead.

There would then be 11 games to go, and it would be hard to see West Brom overhauling Leeds.

A victory for West Brom will throw the race wide open, especially if Leeds drop points at QPR.

Leeds could end the week in total control of the title picture, or as just one of four teams who have an equal say in who will get the two automatic promotion spots.

After losing to West Brom 4-1 at the Hawthorns in November, Friday’s game will not be easy.
