Leeds United could lose Cody Drameh with a number of clubs now joining Newcastle United in the race to sign the right back in 2023.

A key feature of Victor Orta’s recruitment ever since arriving at Leeds in 2017 has been the arrival of young players.

The likes of Pascal Struijk and Crysencio Summerville are great examples of that recruitment, as are Joe Gelhart and Sam Greenwood.

Others haven’t quite broken through into playing major first-team minutes with Cody Drameh a great example.

Leeds United could lose Cody Drameh

Signed from Fulham in the summer of 2020, Drameh had shown real promise in the Craven Cottage ranks.

The 20-year-old has only played seven first-team games for Leeds though.

Drameh joined Cardiff City on loan for the second half of last season and really impressed in 22 Championship games.

Three assists in those games showed Drameh’s attacking potential but that loan spell hasn’t pushed him into the Leeds side.

Drameh has started just one Premier League game this term and may well be wondering if his big break is ever going to come at Leeds – especially after a new right back arrived over the summer in Rasmus Kristensen.

Fabrizio Romano now claims that four clubs are interested in signing Drameh ahead of the January transfer window.

Newcastle United are one of them, seemingly believing that they can develop Drameh into a top right back behind Kieran Trippier.

Leeds may not fancy selling Drameh to a Premier League rival but there is major interest from European clubs too.

Lille want to take Drameh to France whilst Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund are looking to lure him over to the Bundesliga.

Drameh has just over 18 months left on his contract and will ultimately want to make the best decision for his first-team prospects.

Leeds may soon need to show Drameh that he can progress at Elland Road or ultimately risk losing him in the near future.
