Southampton are closing in on signing James Bree as Cody Drameh prepares to leave Leeds United for a loan spell at Luton Town.
The Saints appointed Luton boss Nathan Jones as their new manager after sacking Ralph Hasenhuttl earlier this season.
This was always going to lead to rumours about signing Luton players, and it looks like one is coming to fruition.
The Athletic report that Southampton are close to signing Luton right back James Bree in a deal worth just £750,000.
Bree is out of contract at the end of the season and Luton are cashing in before he leaves for nothing.
The chance to reunite with Jones was surely appealing to Bree, as is the chance of another shot at Premier League success.
Bree was with Aston Villa when they won promotion in 2019 but was offloaded to Luton after the play-off final, meaning he never got an opportunity in the top flight.

Cody Drameh’s Leeds exit signals James Bree to Southampton
There has been a clear hint of Bree’s move to Southampton being close in the last 24 hours.
Luton have been targeting Leeds United ace Cody Drameh and appear to be closing in on a deal.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Leeds right back Drameh is set to undergo a medical with Luton this morning.
Drameh is heading to Kenilworth Road on loan with the aim of gaining more Championship experience having spent the second half of last season on loan at Cardiff City.
Leeds won’t decide Drameh’s long-term future until the summer, given that he is out of contract in 2024.
Drameh appears to be a quality replacement for Bree, and there would be little chance of Luton going for him unless Bree was on his way.
This is another boost for Southampton in their battle against the drop, with Jones now able to add a player he knows very well.
