The Italian has some interesting views on how football rights may one day be sold.

Television rights have shaped modern football. First with Sky and the Premier League and recently BT Sport have been making waves in the game.
Leeds United have had their struggles in this regard, especially with Massimo Cellino and Sky – whose over-coverage of the West Yorkshire side saw multiple time changes and date swaps for fixtures, much to the maverick Italian’s chagrin.

Leeds United of course have been taken over recently, with Andrea Radrizzani now the chairman and owner of the club.
He has a great track record in TV rights business with his company MP and Silva. He was speaking recently at a forum and he shared his expansive views on how football TV rights might one day be distributed.

He is quoted by Marketing Week as suggesting the likes of Amazon and Netflix could one day have rights deals to show football in the UK:
“It could be that Amazon, Netflix and Facebook have a go as they could bundle the football with a ready-made subscription. They could be challengers.
“Traditional players like BT and Sky will need to defend their business over the coming years. We’ve seen the NFL show games on social media in the US, so why not do the same with Premier League football?”

Such a move would be a culture shock to English football fans but the idea of highlights packages in particular being viewed in such a way must not be underestimated as a possibility.
