Leeds United CEO Angus Kinnear has said that West Ham United midfielder James Ward-Prowse is “world class”.

Angus Kinnear made the comments about West Ham United midfielder James Ward-Prowse on The Square Ball Podcast while discussing the Leeds United squad.

Leeds are playing in the Championship this season after getting relegated from the Premier League at the end of the last campaign.

Ward-Prowse moved to West Ham from Southampton in the summer transfer window.

The Hammers paid the Saints £30 million (Sky Sports) to sign the midfielder.

Like Leeds, Southampton also got relegated from the Premier League at the end of last season.

West Ham won the UEFA Europa Conference League last season and will play in the UEFA Europa League this campaign.

Praise for West Ham United summer signing James Ward-Prowse

Kinnear said, as transcribed by TBR: “We struggled with the losses of Kalvin and Raphinha.

“When Sam Allardyce came in he said that he felt the club lacked any world class players.

“In the Premier League even the worst teams have one or two world class players whether that’s a Maddison, a Ward-Prowse or a Tielemans.”

While we do not think that James Ward-Prowse is world class, we believe that he is a very good signing for West Ham United and has made the Hammers’ midfield better.

The 28-year-old is a free-kick specialist and can hold his own in the middle of the park.

James Ward-Prowse a good signing for West Ham

Ward-Prowse is at the top of his game at the moment, and we are not surprised at all to see him make an immediate impact at the Hammers.

The Englishman has made three appearances in the Premier League so far this season.

Ward-Prowse has scored one goal and given three assists in those games.

The 28-year-old has made 346 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.

Ward-Prowse has scored 50 goals and given 41 assists in those games.
