The Leeds United centre-back has plenty of experience of big derby games.
Scott Brown tussles v Kyle Bartley
It is derby day today with Manchester United and Manchester City going head-to-head – as well as Celtic and Rangers in the Old Firm derby.
But in West Yorkshire there is only one derby to concern about – Leeds United v Huddersfield Town.
The league leaders travel to Elland Road, hoping to recreate their 4-1 win at their local rivals from last season.
One man who will be tasked with holding off Huddersfield today is Leeds central defender Kyle Bartley.
Kyle Bartley – Rangers
Speaking to the Yorkshire Post today he made it clear that he has had his fair share of preparation for this game in his time with Rangers and Arsenal:
“Everyone knows it is an important match and the fans want the local bragging rights, they are desperate to see us win.
“The players understand that but we also have to take the emotion out of it. There are three points up for grabs, just as is the case in every other league match. You have to remember that because if emotions come into it then it can affect you.
“Playing in the Rangers-Celtic game was absolutely massive.
“The thing with the Glasgow derby is it is all people speak about in the week before the game. It showed how much the derby matters.
“We had a job to do and we have to keep our focus to do that. It is the same in any derby, you have to focus on your job.”

Bartley was only a teenager when he featured for Rangers in the Old Firm derby and handled the ferocity of that rivalry well, so will not be overwhelmed by the atmosphere at Elland Road for this rival clash.
His experience of big games and difficult atmospheres could be vital for Leeds this afternoon as they hope to get one over on the Championship’s outstanding team of the season so far.
