If there’s one thing we’ve learnt about Leeds United this season it’s that they have a real lack of depth up front.

Indeed, Patrick Bamford has spent the majority of this season out injured, and the Whites have plugged that gap with a number of stopgap players.

Rodrigo is a midfielder who has been tasked with playing up top at times, Dan James is more comfortable on the wing and Joe Gelhardt has had to be fast-tracked into the first team due to Bamford’s problems.

Simply put, Leeds need a proper backup to Bamford, and luckily, there’s a player out there that would be the perfect fit.

We’re talking about Benjamin Sesko.

Jesse Marsch has been blessed to work with some world-class strikers during his relatively short managerial career – most notably Erling Haaland and Patson Daka, and there’s reason to believe Sesko could be the second-coming of Haaland.

The Slovenian, much like his Norwegian counterpart, is a physical anomaly.

He stands at 6 ft 4, and last season he was clocked running at 36.1 KM/hr during a loan spell at FC Liefering. For context, Antonio Rudiger clocked the fastest sprint in the Premier League this season at 36.7 KM/hr, just slightly faster than Sesko.

The Haaland comparisons are obvious. Another frighteningly quick 6 ft 4 striker coming through at RB Salzburg seems to be something you’d only see on and old Football Manager game once the regens start coming into the game, but somehow, lightning has struck twice in Austria.

Sesko doesn’t have the goalscoring record Haaland had, but then again, he’s not had the fortune of being thoroughly coached by Marsch – a manager who clearly knows how to get the best out of his strikers.

Unfortunately for Sesko, Marsch had left for Leipzig by the time he came back from his impressive loan spell, and now, it seems as though a move to the Premier League beckons, with Spurs interested.

However, given Marsch’s links to Sesko and Salzburg, and the fact that Leeds are desperate for a new striker, the Whites should be rivalling Tottenham for this young star.

Sesko should have been Marsch’s Haaland 2.0 at Salzburg, and Leeds need to try their best to reunite the manager with his former player.
