Leeds United striker Kemar Roofe has attracted interest from Premier League sides.

Leeds United would be making a terrible error if they allow Kemar Roofe to leave in January.

The Sunday Mirror (04/11, page 66) claim that Roofe is of interest to Southampton, Wolves and Crystal Palace ahead of the transfer window reopening.

Leeds are looking to secure Roofe to a new contract, but they haven’t been able to do so so far.

And Leeds are now facing a battle to hold on to their main striker ahead of the January transfer window.

By selling Roofe midway through the season, Roofe would be making a huge error though.

Roofe is Leeds’ top scorer this term, despite missing a portion of it with injury, and he is arguably their most important player.

With Patrick Bamford out injured, Leeds need to keep Roofe around if they are to earn promotion.

Roofe is the most natural goalscorer available to Marcelo Bielsa, and his clinical finishing will be crucial if the Whites are to stand the pace in the promotion race for the rest of the campaign.

If Leeds were to lose him in January then it would leave serious questions being asked over their ambition.

And Leeds simply cannot afford to sell Roofe in the new year, no matter what sort of offers come in for him.
