Leeds United have shown an interest in signing Brenden Aaronson, but won’t be signing the American talent during the January transfer window.
The Telegraph report that Leeds were hoping to sign Aaronson during the upcoming transfer window to bolster Marcelo Bielsa’s squad.
However, Red Bull Salzburg have qualified for the knockout stages of the Champions League. They take on Bayern Munich in the last 16.
With that in mind, it’s now suggested that Salzburg won’t be letting Aaronson go, with any deal now considered ‘remote’.
That means Leeds will now have to scrap any ideas of a move for Aaronson and ultimately look elsewhere.
Aaronson, 21, showed huge potential with Philadelphia Union in his native United States, bagging seven goals and six assists in 57 games.
Red Bull Salzburg pounced to sign Aaronson in January 2021, and his form has been sensational.

10 goals and 12 assists in 51 games is a great return for Aaronson, who has mostly played as a number 10 in Austria.
Compared to Kai Havertz, Aaronson looks set to become the latest huge Red Bull Salzburg export, following on from Sadio Mane, Takumi Minamino, Naby Keita, Dayot Upamecano, Duje Caleta-Car, Hwang Hee-chan, Enock Mwepu, Erling Haaland, Dominik Szoboszlai and Patson Daka.
The list of Salzburg talents simply goes on, and whilst Aaronson may make a big move one day, he seemingly won’t be joining Leeds next month.
