Leeds United seemingly have confidence of signing their top target Brenden Aaronson – but only at the end of the season.
That’s according to TEAMtalk, who claim that director of football Victor Orta has been in Austria for negotiations with Red Bull Salzburg.
Leeds had a first bid of £15million rejected for Aaronson, with their second bid of £20million also failing.
It’s now stated that Aaronson has told Salzburg that he wants to make the move to Leeds.
That matches up with what the Daily Mail reported earlier this month, claiming that Aaronson was keen to play under Marcelo Bielsa.
That Mail report added that Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are also interested in signing Aaronson.
Salzburg will seemingly allow Aaronson to join Leeds, but there’s a catch; the deal can only go through in the summer.
Salzburg have no intention of selling Aaronson in the middle of the season and will force him to wait until the summer.
That’s a major frustration for Leeds. They need signings now, signings who can help keep them in the Premier League and away from the drop zone.
Aaronson was seen as the perfect solution, bringing a natural number 10 to Bielsa’s system which has yet to really replace Pablo Hernandez.

Aaronson is quick, skilful and creative, recording seven assists in 26 games this season whilst also adding three goals.
At just 21, Aaronson looks set for a huge future and Orta is desperate for that future to be with Leeds United.
Orta may have Leeds’ first summer signing in the bag, but can he really agree to that deal right now?
Leeds are not safe from the drop and may not be in a position to commit to £20million-plus deals for months down the line.
Add in that Leeds need signings now and Orta faces something of a dilemma on whether or not to pull the trigger on a summer deal for Aaronson.
