Leeds United drew 1-1 against Aston Villa on Friday.
Leeds United were held to a 1-1 draw against Aston Villa in the Championship clash at Elland Road on Friday night.
The home side put up a dominant display in the opening 45 minutes, and deservedly led through Pontus Jansson in the 19th minute.
Villa bounced back in the second half, and equalised through Henri Lansbury when he scored from just outside the box in the 71st minute.
In the first half, Leeds United’s attacking midfielder Pablo Hernandez had to be substituted with a muscle injury.
After the match, Thomas Christiansen, the Leeds manager, said that the Spaniard’s absence was a “loss” for his side.
However, Christiansen was quick to praise Kemar Roofe, who came on to replace Hernandez in the 42nd minute.
Christiansen said that the 24-year-old did well, and that he is “happy” with his performance.
“He [Hernandez] is very important, with the ball, without the ball he’s intelligent so it was a loss for us in the second half. But, Roofey also came in and did well, fight a lot of balls, so I am also happy with his entrance,” said Christiansen in the post-match press conference, as quoted by Leeds Live.
Roofe had 25 touches in the match but made only seven passes with 100% accuracy, and had a shot as well, according to whoscored.com.
Leeds enjoyed 52% of possession, but could muster only one shot on target in the entire match.
