Paul Heckingbottom has a big call to make at Leeds United, with Gaetano Berardi due back from suspension.

Berardi has missed Leeds’ last two matches with suspension, but is available against Derby County this evening.

The Swiss defender is one of the most popular players at Elland Road, but bringing him straight back into the team would be a big call from Heckingbottom.

Berardi’s suspension has provided Vurnon Anita with a chance to impress at Leeds, and the Dutchman took it last week.

Anita was in good form, as Leeds came from behind to claim a 2-2 draw with Bristol City.

And it would arguably send out the wrong message if Berardi did walk straight back into the team ahead of him.

Anita has not made the impact many were hoping at Leeds this term, but he deserves to keep his place this evening, which means Berardi may have to watch from the sidelines for a bit longer yet.
