Leeds United boss Garry Monk has two pieces of good news.
Liam Bridcutt Leeds United in action with Jack Payne of Huddersfield Town
Leeds United spent months trying to secure the signature of Liam Bridcutt this summer, finally getting the deal over the line once the season had kicked off.
He was handed the club captaincy at the weekend, the first match following Sol Bamba’s exit.
So it was concerning to see him substituted after just an hour against Blackburn Rovers last night, suffering an injury.
Leeds manager Garry Monk
Head coach Garry Monk allayed fears of supporters after the game concerning the midfielder, telling BBC Radio Leeds that Bridcutt could make a swift return.
He said: “I don’t think its anything major, it’s an impact injury. He’ll be assessed tomorrow. We’ve got bumps and bruises. In terms of Liam, I’m sure he’ll be recovered and ready for the weekend.”
Another player who could be back for Saturday’s visit to Cardiff City is Kemar Roofe, who was not even among the substitutes last night.

Speaking after the game, Monk explained that Roofe’s absence was due to injury, but just a minor one.
He said: “He has an injury, a calf problem, and we didn’t want to risk him.
“He didn’t train yesterday [Monday], at a push he could have made the bench, but he’ll be available for the weekend.”
Roofe may well be on the bench this weekend rather than starting, with Leeds likely to want to keep their momentum going from this victory.
This is likely to mean minimal changes as Garry Monk’s side attempt to put a run together to try and climb up the table.
