Edmondson’s under-23 performances were so strong late last season that he was handed a debut at the end of the season.
After impressive pre-season efforts, Edmondson is now getting a first team crack.
Injuries to Kemar Roofe and Patrick Bamford have elevated him into first team contention and Edmondson came off the bench against Birmingham City at the weekend with Tyler Roberts ineffective.
Bringing on Edmondson could be perceived by some as an act of desperation.
Looking more positively, it is a big show of faith in the talented young striker.
For a teenager, just to make a professional league appearance is one thing. To be doing so under world class manager Marcelo Bielsa is a huge honour.
Now there is a chance that Edmondson’s prospects get even better.
Leeds face Sheffield Wednesday on Friday, and Edmondson has to be a legitimate option to start instead of Tyler Roberts, and replace him if once again the Welshman fails to score.
Making an appearance has now been checked off by Edmondson. Now he has to score his first goal, and doing so against Sheffield Wednesday would be unbelievable.
