Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United reportedly want to sign Daniel James from Swansea City.
According to BBC Sport, Leeds are interested in signing James from Championship rivals Swansea on January transfer deadline day.
It has been reported that the West Yorkshire outfit want to secure the services of the 21-year-old on an initial loan deal with a view to making it permanent for £10 million at the end of the season.
Leeds will reportedly pay Swansea a loan fee of around £2m for James, who can operate as a winger or as an attacking midfielder.
Leeds head coach Bielsa has said that negotiations between the two clubs are going on.
Bielsa told Leeds Live when asked about James: “So far I don’t have any news about transfers. I know both clubs are negotiating, but I don’t know if it’s done.”
The Leeds head coach added: “Orta chose James and I accepted the player proposed to me. I agree with the fact this player has the features the team needs and responds to the needs of the team.
“If he comes it will be a significant transfer. If he doesn’t come we will find solutions for the rest of the season.”
Good signing for Leeds United?
James is only 21 years of age, and the youngster is still quite unproven in the Championship.
The youngster, though, has a lot of potential, and he could develop and progress working under Bielsa.
According to WhoScored, the 21-year-old has made 13 starts and five substitute appearances in the Championship for Swansea so far this season, scoring two goals and providing three assists in the process.
