Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa needs to find a way to get his two strikers onto the pitch at the same time.
One of the great disappointment’s about Marcelo Bielsa’s second season at Leeds so far is that the attack is not firing on all cylinders, yet.
Leeds have the attacking talent, but for some reason it isn’t clicking.
Defensively you can’t argue with results, Leeds have the best record at the back in the Championship, conceding only eight goals in 14 matches.
Bielsa is known as one of football’s great innovators.
This is a manager which took a Chile team to the World Cup and won hearts and minds there using a 3-3-1-3 formation.
But at Leeds, Bielsa’s stubborn side is overshadowing his creative and innovative facets.
Bielsa has a system, and he is sticking to it, but to the detriment of the team.
Leeds fans have been calling for both Patrick Bamford and Eddie Nketiah to play together, rather than making it an ‘either, or’ scenario.
Bielsa has refused to do that so far, despite the team’s struggles to score goals, and ineffectiveness with just one up front.
Leeds need Bielsa to innovate. They need him to tweak his tactics, and come up with a masterplan to keep the defensive strength, while fitting both strikers in.
It might be quite simple, but Bielsa is certainly capable of doing it. At present he’s staying committed to his original plan, but whether that is the most intelligent decision or not, the jury is out.
