Gaetano Berardi has made just one appearance for Leeds United so far this season.

Leeds United boss Garry Monk has told BBC Radio Leeds that Gaetano Berardi is closing in on a return to fitness.
Berardi has not featured since the first day of the season, when Leeds were beaten by Queens Park Rangers, after picking up an injury.
The right-back has been missed by the Whites, but it seems that he could be back in the team in the very near future.

“Bera should be back out on the pitch next week, so that’ll be good,” Monk said. “It’ll be more headaches to have with the squad, in terms of selections, but that’s what I want.”
In Berardi’s absence, new signing Luke Ayling has been filling in on the right-hand side of defence.
Ayling has made five appearances for Leeds to date, and although he has made a positive impact – it will be hard to hold off Berardi’s challenge.

Berardi was one of Leeds’ most consistent players last term, and is likely to come straight back into Monk’s starting line-up.
Berardi will still be missing for Leeds’ match against Blackburn Rovers at Elland Road later this evening, though.
Leeds have won just once so far this campaign, and are under pressure to get the three points against Owen Coyle’s struggling side.
