Leeds United head coach Garry Monk says team had no identity before his arrival.
Leeds United head coach Garry Monk has told TalkSPORT that he feels the team had no identity prior to his arrival.
Speaking to the station at 8pm on Monday night, Monk explained that he feels he has given the team a purpose which is being reflected in recent results.
He said: “They did not have an identity, or a way of playing to buy into.
“It was something I wanted to give these guys. You could see from day one the players really wanted that.
“The ones without experience want to listen, put all their heart into it. They have got huge potential these young players. We added a few experienced players in just to balance it.”

Monk’s comments can be taken as a dig at the work former bosses inability to implement their ideas at the club, with Steve Evans his predecessor.
The manager before him, Uwe Rosler, certainly attempted to inject his own style, a ‘heavy metal football’ as he put it, but the players never really took to it, and he was fired after two months.
Pragmatism from Evans followed this, and it is understandable that his focus was on results rather than a philosophy, given Massimo Cellino’s itchy trigger finger, but he did not survive the axe in any case, and so far Monk is effectively balancing the two objectives.
Monk had a tough start but rode out the storm, with results improving. The Whites are just three points off the play-off places with 14 of 46 games played.
