The former Manchester United defender’s statement caused controversy around Elland Road, but Monk was not prepared to be drawn into any arguments with the Royals boss.
Leeds got their victory against Reading thanks to goals from Chris Wood and Souleymane Doukara.
The victory has lifted Leeds up to sixth place in the Championship table, and talk of a promotion push is becoming louder around Elland Road.
Leeds have not been a Premier League club since 2004, but there is genuine hope that they could get back to the top flight this season.
Leeds have been in excellent form over the last three months, and they could rise as high as third in the Championship table, if they are able to beat Brentford in their next match.
