The former Manchester United defender’s statement caused controversy around Elland Road, but Monk was not prepared to be drawn into any arguments with the Royals boss.
Leeds got their victory against Reading thanks to goals from Chris Wood and Souleymane Doukara.
The victory has lifted Leeds up to sixth place in the Championship table, and talk of a promotion push is becoming louder around Elland Road.
