The Leeds boss believes the Swede will soon be a permanent fixture.
Leeds United boss Garry Monk has been commenting on the future of defensive stalwart Pontus Jansson, as the Swede looks set to complete a permanent move to Elland Road this month.
He featured in his 22nd game for Leeds during the week, as they defeated Nottingham Forest 2-0 at Elland Road. That triggers a buying option in his loan deal from Italian Serie A side Torino. Monk believes any deal will go through without a hitch, but is leaving it up to the powers at be to finalise any deal. He is quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post as stating:

“Obviously he has reached the target that was agreed between the clubs and of course we all want Pontus to be here, as do the club and Pontus himself wants to be here. So I am sure that the club will take care of all of that internally and do it when it’s right between all parties.
“I’m sure that will be finalised. It’s not a problem, it’s not a big focus and I am sure all of that will be taken care of.”

The Yorkshire Evening Post previously reported that personal terms are already agreed between the player and the club, so it seems this deal is on the brink of completion. They also stated that Torino can delay the deal until the end of the season, with the fee believed to be in the region of £3.5 million.
But it does seem as though Jansson’s deal to become a Leeds player is a matter of when and not if.
The Swedish defender has become an instant cult hero at Elland Road and fans at the club will be awaiting his permanent transfer with much anticipation.
