The Leeds boss believes every player at the club knows their role.
Leeds manager Garry Monk
Leeds United boss Garry Monk has told TV Yorkshire about his philosophy when it comes to rotating the squad at Elland Road.
Leeds won their EFL Cup tie against Blackburn Rovers in the week, their third win on the bounce. But they made plenty of changes for the game – with fringe players such as Marco Silvestri, Lewie Coyle and Kalvin Phillips getting an opportunity in the Leeds starting XI.
Speaking about the rotation of the team the Leeds head coach made it clear to TV Yorkshire each and every player at Elland Road knew what their role is in the team.
He stated:
“This is the point.
“The way I work is that every player in the squad understands what is expected of them. They understand their role in the team.
“That has to be the way and then you can make decisions confidently that when you put players in who have not had many minutes they understand what’s expected of them very clearly.
“It’s good to see. That’s been very pleasing. That builds confidence in them and confidence in me that all the players can go in there and know what is needed.”
Leeds United’s Marco Silvestri makes a save
Leeds have perhaps not been blessed with a big squad in the past but this summer the club made plenty of signings to add strength in depth to the squad.
Monk is clearly a firm believer in keeping the team fresh and in a 46 game Championship season that can certainly prove vital come the end of the campaign.
With the Yorkshire club now about to embark on another three-game week Leeds fans can expect to see chopping and changing again.
