The Leeds boss is however confident his side are trained to deal with such situations.

Leeds United boss Garry Monk has admitted that the appointment of Steve McClaren at Derby County could have an impact ahead of this weekend’s game against Derby County.

Derby finally relieved Nigel Pearson of his duties recently and have moved to replace him with their former boss McClaren.

Leeds would have likely been preparing to face a Derby side led by former caretaker boss Chris Powell but that situation has now clearly changed.

But despite the late change Leeds boss Monk believes his side do the training necessary to deal with such a situation and that they will be able to handle it if Derby do play differently under McClaren.

He told TV Yorkshire earlier today:

“I guess the little bit of doubt you have in those situations is that certain things could change.

“They might do (things) differently from all the games they’ve done so far when you’re looking at teams and analysing them. There is that possibility.

“We have to be ready for certain situations in games when an opposition might do something they haven’t done before. We have to be ready for that.

“Part of our training is about that.

“Whatever happens, a new manager comes in, I expect it to be a tough game now.”

Leeds go into the game on a great run of form – winning five of their last six games.

That form has fans once again over the moon and believing that Monk might be the man to finally lead them out of the doldrums.

Derby fans on the other hand have endured a miserable season so far, including a torrid home form that Leeds will look to take advantage of this weekend.
