Leeds United lost 1-0 to their Yorkshire rivals at Elland Road.

Garry Monk has told TV Yorkshire that Pontus Jansson did well for Leeds United in Saturday’s defeat by Huddersfield Town at Elland Road.
Aaron Mooy’s 55th-minute winner settled a typically feisty Yorkshire derby yesterday as top-of-the-table Huddersfield maintained their unbeaten start to the Championship season.

In contrast, Leeds, who have won once and lost four of their six league games under Monk, slipped into the relegation zone, seven points adrift of the top six.
Things aren’t looking great for United at the moment, but there were some positives in the form of individual performances. Newly-appointed club captain Liam Bridcutt impressed in midfield, while Jansson – who joined on a season-long loan from Torino in August – also looked solid in defence on his Championship debut.
The Swedish centre-back played in the win over Luton Town in the League Cup last month, but this was Monk’s first chance to see how he coped with the physicality of England’s second tier, and the 38-year-old manager liked what he saw.

He told TV Yorkshire: “I though he did well. It’s good for him to get more minutes. I thought he contributed. I thought both defences did well. Both teams had very few chances.”
Monk will surely start to feel the pressure now. A 2-0 win at Sheffield Wednesday last month alleviated some of the pressure but, despite a successful League Cup run so far, he will know that one more defeat and he might well end up on the chopping block.
They clash with Blackburn Rovers in a must-win game for the ex-Swansea boss.
