Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United will have to make “a substantial offer” for Blackburn Rovers midfielder John Buckley to sign him in the January transfer window, according to Lancs Live.
The report has claimed that Blackburn do not plan to sell Buckley, linked with Leeds and Burnley, in the middle of the season.
And, if Rovers are to sell the 22-year-old midfielder, then it would ‘require a substantial offer.
Sky Sports reported on January 14, 2022 (11:24am) that Leeds and Burnley are interested in signing Buckley, described as “a very, very talented boy” by Blackburn manager Tony Mowbray on the club’s official website in March 2021.
Could Leeds United sign John Buckley?
In our view, it is going to be extremely hard for Leeds to sign Buckley, who is a very versatile footballer and can operate in a number of positions in midfield.
The 22-year-old has played in central midfield, defensive midfield, attacking midfield, right wing, right-back and even as a striker for Rovers this season, according to WhoScored.

The Blackburn no. 21 has made 24 starts and one substitute appearance in the Championship so far this season.
Buckley has scored one goal and provided six assists in those games.
Blackburn are aiming to finish in the top two of the Championship table this season.
With Rovers chasing automatic promotion to the Premier League at the end of the season, they are unlikely to sell Buckley and damager their chances.
