Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United and Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have made their interest in Djed Spence known, according to Sky Sports.

Spence is on loan at Nottingham Forest from Middlesbrough at the moment, and Premier League clubs Arsenal and Leeds are reported to be interested in the right-back.

Sky Sports have claimed that both Arsenal and Leeds have enquired about Spence.

The Mirror reported over the weekend interest from Arsenal in the 21-year-old, adding that Middlesbrough value him at £10 million.

Could Arsenal or Leeds United sign Djed Spence?

In our view, Arsenal and Leeds do have a chance of signing Spence in the January transfer window.

After all, a transfer fee of £10 million is not much, especially to Arsenal.

The problem is that Spence would not be available to play for the Gunners or the Whites now.

Spence, who has also played as a right-sided midfielder and in attack this season, has turned out for both Middlesbrough and Forest this season.

So, the youngster will not be able to play for a third club this season.

Now, of course, Arsenal or Leeds could sign Spence now and then allow him to stay on loan at Forest for the rest of the season.

But Middlesbrough could well decide to wait until the summer of 2022 and then see if they can get more money for Spence, especially if they manage to extend his contract beyond the summer of 2023 by then.
