Leeds United have snapped up York City’s Ryan Edmondson.
Leeds United have today confirmed the signing of York City teenager Ryan Edmondson – and the club’s official website claim he has snubbed rival offers to join his boyhood club.
Whilst signings such as Ezgjan Alioski, Samu Saiz and Pierre-Michel Lasogga stole the headlines for Leeds over the summer, the Whites also placed a huge emphasis on bringing in young players for their developmental squad.
The likes of Oriol Rey, Ousama Siddiki, Bryce Hosannah, Adrian Balboa, Madger Gomes, Oliver Sarkic and Kun Temenuzhkov all joined Leeds over the summer, as the Whites built up a strong base of young players.
Now, the Whites are at it again, having secured a deal for York City forward Ryan Edmondson, snapping him up on a deal until 2020, as confirmed on their official website.
The 16-year-old attacker has been coming up through the ranks with the non-league side, but has now made the step up to the Championship with Leeds, though will head into the developmental squad for the foreseeable future.
Intriguingly, Leeds’ announcement on a deal for Edmondson adds that the teenager has snubbed rival interest in order to sign for Leeds, as he grew up supporting the Whites.
Landing a young player who loves Leeds United will be great for fans, and the youngster will now have the chance to live out his dream of becoming a first-team player with his beloved Whites over the coming years.
