Leeds United have been linked with Ange Postecoglou and Livingston boss David Martindale has joked that he should take the job.

The Whites sacked Jesse Marsch last week after a disappointing run of form.

Yet in a bizarre twist of fate, Marsch is set to land a new job of his own – taking over at Southampton – before Leeds have even found a replacement.

A host of names have been linked with the Leeds job but continue to fall by the wayside.

Carlos Corberan, Andoni Iraola and Arne Slot have chosen to stay with their current clubs whilst a deal for Alfred Schreuder was scrapped.

That leaves Michael Skubala in charge for the foreseeable future and it’s unclear just who Leeds can look towards next.

One name mentioned is Ange Postecoglou, with Tuttomercatoweb reporting last week that the Celtic boss was one of the main options to become the next Leeds manager.

David Martindale jokingly backs Ange Postecoglou for Leeds United job

Postecoglou has shown no real willingness to leave Celtic any time soon.

The Australian has worked wonders since his appointment in 2021 and is on course for a second league title with the Bhoys.

Postecoglou will surely only leave Celtic for the absolute right job and a relegation battle with Leeds just doesn’t seem like that.

Livingston boss David Martindale has now had his say on the situation – and jokes that he would love to see Postecoglou go.

Martindale has been looking ahead to this weekend’s game against Rangers by talking about Celtic boss Postecoglou.

Martindale has told the Daily Record that he struggles to stop Postecoglou’s style of play and joked that he sent the Celtic manager’s CV to Leeds.

The Scot added that he would help Ally McCoist pay for Postecoglou to make the trip to Leeds, just so he wasn’t dominating Scottish football any longer!

“We kind of know how Rangers will play but I kind of know how Ange is going to play as well – I still can’t stop him! I actually put his CV into Leeds! I saw Ally McCoist saying he would drive him down but I called him and said I’ll half him for a business class air ticket!
