Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers were both said to be interested in signing Kalvin Phillips from Leeds United.

Aston Villa’s move for Douglas Luiz is surely good news for Leeds United and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Villa have been heavily linked with Phillips throughout the summer, but Leeds have fought hard to keep him.
Luiz’s impending arrival at Villa may just suggest that Dean Smith’s side are now looking elsewhere, as he performs a similar function to the Leeds man.
It means that Leeds and Wolves have reason to celebrate the move.

Leeds now appear to have just one side to fend off in their battle to keep Phillips, while Wolves could face less competition for his signature.
Phillips is arguably Leeds’ most important player, and Marcelo Bielsa’s side will be loathed to lose him, after already letting go of Pontus Jansson this summer.
