Sunderland are said to be keen on Gary Madine, while Leeds United, Derby County and Sheffield Wednesday have been credited with interest in Josh Vela.

Any clubs hoping to sign Bolton Wanderers pair Josh Vela and Gary Madine appear to have been dealt a blow, the Bolton News reports. Derby County, Leeds United and Sheffield Wednesday have been credited with interest in Vela, while Sunderland are said to be keen on Madine.
But despite reports which claimed the Trotters could sell key players to help alleviate their financial worries, a club spokesperson is quoted as telling the Bolton News they have had no contact over either player – and nor would they entertain any.
“We have had no interest in any of our players and if we did it would not be entertained,” said the Wanderers spokesperson.
“The manager and the chief scout are meeting today to discuss their plans for next month. We are only interested in bringing players in.”

Bolton have enjoyed a resurgence of late and will be keen to put further distance between themselves and the Championship’s bottom three – in which Sunderland continue to feature – in January.
But Sunderland’s plight could worsen if they are robbed of Lewis Grabban’s services, who is reportedly wanted by other second tier clubs after impressing on loan at the Stadium of Light – hence the Mackems’ alleged Madine interest.

Leeds, Derby and Sheffield Wednesday each have loftier ambitions this season, although it is the Rams who are said to be leading the race to sign Vela this winter.
And it remains to be seen whether Leeds will pursue a deal for the midfielder, having recently agreed to sign Japan international Yosuke Ideguchi.
Will Sunderland get their hands on Madine? Will Leeds, Derby or Sheffield Wednesday win the race for Vela?
