Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is said to be close to bringing another of his defensive targets to Ibrox.

Bolton Wanderers will not allow their Leeds United and Glasgow Rangers targets to leave before Friday’s transfer deadline, according to the Bolton News.
The newspaper claims Josh Vela has been monitored by Leeds, while Mark Beevers continues to be linked with a move to Steven Gerrard’s Rangers.
Both players recently entered the final year of their contracts, but clubs sources are said to have informed the Bolton News that their squad will not be weakened.
Bolton have made a strong start to the new Championship campaign, in which Vela, a central midfielder, and Beevers, a central defender, have featured regularly so far.

This is not the first time Leeds have been credited with interest in Vela, with the 24-year-old reported to have featured on the radar of Marcelo Bielsa’s but-one-predecessor Thomas Christiansen.
Meanwhile, Rangers’ quest to strengthen in Beevers’ position could be about to end with Joe Worrall, the Nottingham Forest player who, according to the Daily Record, is close to agreeing a season-long loan move to Ibrox.

English Football League clubs can still make loan and free transfer signings until 5pm on Friday, while the regular window remains open until midnight in Scotland.
