According to The Daily Mail, Celtic have held talks with Leeds United over the signing of Barry Douglas in the summer transfer window.

Sky Sports reported earlier this month that Celtic have identified Douglas as a potential replacement for Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo, who broke quarantine rules.

The Daily Mail has now claimed that the Scottish Premiership giants have held talks with the promoted Premier League club over the signing of the 30-year-old left-back.

Celtic transfer this summer?

If Bolingoli-Mbombo leaves Celtic this summer, then a move for Douglas does make sense for the Glasgow giants.

The 30-year-old – who can also operate as a left wing-back and was described as “a top, top player” by former Leeds midfielder Andy Hughes on Talking Shutt’s official YouTube account on March 26, 2019, as covered by HITC Sport here – has had injury problems at the Whites and is not guaranteed a place in the Leeds starting lineup.

Of course, the Scotland international would love to play in the Premier League, but Celtic are a massive club and would be appealing to the former Wolverhampton Wanderers star.

It seems that Leeds are willing to sell Douglas. After all, the Whites would not have (reportedly) held talks with Celtic if they were not at least open to the idea of selling him.
