Former Tottenham Hotspur scout David Magrone has told The World Game that Leeds United almost signed Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane back in 2014.

According to the Aussie scout, Leeds were set to sign Kane, but were thwarted in their efforts at the last minute.

“There was serious consideration among the hierarchy at the club to letting him go to Leeds because he’d been out on loan and had never really set the world on fire,” said Magrone.

“But Tim knew he was a Premier League player in the making, and really didn’t want to let him go, even if the chairman (Daniel Levy) possibly did.”

Since Leeds’ failed attempts to get Kane, the striker has gone on to become one of the most feared marksman in world football.

The 24-year-old has won the Premier League’s golden boot for the last two seasons, and has gone on to captain England recently.

Kane’s remarkable rise to stardom now means he is on the radar of some of Europe’s biggest clubs, but Tottenham are determined not to sell.
