Alfred Schreuder has been left puzzled after Leeds United pulled a late U-turn on his chance to become manager at Elland Road.

That’s according to The Sun’s Alan Nixon, who claims that Leeds offered Schreuder a three-year deal.

The Dutch manager was seen at Elland Road last week as he watched Leeds lose 2-0 at home to Manchester United.

It looked like Schreuder would become Leeds boss and iNews reported that a deal was close.

However, Leeds pulled the plug on the move and Schreuder has been effectively ruled out of the running.

Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf claim that Scheuder’s move was so advanced that he planned to bring brother Dick Schreuder – currently in charge of PEC Zwolle – to Leeds as his assistant.

However, Andrea Radrizzani personally scrapped the move, believing that Schreuder wasn’t the right man for the job despite Victor Orta being totally convinced.

We’re as puzzled as Alfred Schreuder as Leeds manager chaos continues

When Leeds sacked Jesse Marsch earlier this month, everyone assumed that the Whites had a plan in mind.

Carlos Corberan staying at West Bromwich Albion seemed like an early blow and it has only got worse from there.

Andoni Iraola and Arne Slot were both targeted, but they stayed with Rayo Vallecano and Feyenoord respectively.

Marcelo Gallardo seems to be a key target but he isn’t keen on ditching his sabbatical right now.

Leeds turned to Schreuder, only to change their minds at the last minute, and there have been strange links to the likes of Pedro Martins and Gerardo Martino since then.

That means Michael Skubala remains in charge but Leeds are now in the bottom three and relegation is a major concern.

This entire managerial process has, quite frankly, been a mess from Leeds and we have no idea what the plan is moving forward.

Schreuder is baffled as his Premier League chance has been taken away, but it seems that Leeds just have no idea what they want.
