Speaking on the Super Six Podcast, Leeds United utility man Stuart Dallas has claimed that he doesn’t know what his best position is.
The Northern Irishman has played pretty much everywhere for Leeds since the arrival of Marcelo Bielsa, so as you can imagine, the hosts of the podcast were keen to find out what Dallas thinks his best position is.
Unfortunately, the ex-Brentford man doesn’t seem to have a clue what his best role is.
“I knew you were going to ask this, and everybody asks me this, but I genuinely don’t have an answer,” Dallas said.
“If you’d have said to me at the start of the season I’d have said at full-back, because that’s where I played for the majority of last season when I did play, and midfield was never really you know, I’m happy to go in there to do a job to the best of my ability.
“I’m by no means a midfielder, but the more the seasons have gone on, last season and this season, and the more I’m playing in that position the more comfortable I’m getting.
“I’m not going to be one who’s going to run games from midfield, but I genuinely don’t have an answer, you know, if he names me as a number eight on a Saturday I’m happy, if he names me as a full-back I’m equally as happy.”

You can understand why Bielsa uses him in the way he does.
Dallas doesn’t know what his best position is, and to be honest, we don’t think anyone does.
He seems to be way too much of an attacking threat to be a full-back, but his defensive work is so brilliant that he seems a bit wasted on the wing, while his ability to run the channels isn’t utilised enough when he’s in the midfield.
He truly is a Jack of all trades, and that’s certainly something that comes in handy for Leeds.
