Leeds United ace faces former club QPR again this weekend.

Leeds United surprised many by moving for veteran goalkeeper Rob Green on a free transfer last summer.

Green was released by Queens Park Rangers last June, and had an immediate return to Loftus Road on the opening day of the season.

It could not have gone worse, with Green making an early error as Leeds suffered a 3-0 defeat.

QPR fans revelled in the error, taking to Twitter to lambast their former stopper.

Comments included, “Green, the gift that keeps on giving”, “shows why we stopped playing Green”, and “Great decision to get rid of Green by Jimmy.”

Green infamously has a mistake in him, as England fans well recall from World Cup 2010.

Yet after his opening day nightmare against QPR, he has bounced back to play a key role for Leeds this season.

One error in a high profile game against Newcastle aside, Green has been solid for Leeds, helping them into the play-off spots.

This weekend he has a chance to shut out QPR, when they visit Elland Road.

The season has been kinder to Leeds than their opponents, who had a managerial change mid-season due to poor results.

Leeds are in fourth place while QPR are down in 14th, having conceded 50 goals to Leeds’ 36.

The match will be Green’s 600th professional appearance of his career, and how he would love to celebrate it with a clean sheet.
