Pascal Struijk has been hosting a Q&A on Twitter, and he’s been asked who the best player he’s ever played against is.
Struijk has played against some absolute superstars during his time at Leeds United. Mohamed Salah scored a hat-trick against him on his Premier League debut, Kevin De Bruyne has ran him ragged in the past, while Paul Pogba managed to grab four assists against Struijk and Leeds earlier this season.
However, interestingly, Struijk has named an Aston Villa player as the greatest footballer he’s ever come up against.
Struijk thinks Coutinho is the best player he’s faced, and to be fair, we can understand why.
Coutinho played against Struijk for the first time earlier this year, and he absolutely ran the show against Leeds.
He grabbed a goal and two assists against the Whites back in February, and he was at his unplayable best.
Coutinho may be playing for Villa right now, but let’s not forget, this is a Brazil international who is still the most expensive player in Premier League transfer history.
Coutinho is truly a world-class operator, and while his stock has fallen slightly since leaving Liverpool, his performances at Villa have shown that he’s still one of the best players in England.
