The Swede was one of the only players who impressed against Huddersfield this weekend.

Trying to find positives from Leeds United’s display against Huddersfield Town this weekend certainly is not easy.

Garry Monk’s side were poor throughout the game and deserved the end result, a 1-0 defeat courtesy of Aaron Mooy’s superb strike from the surprise league leaders.

But if Leeds fans were to pick out one positive from the game it would have to be the performance of Swedish defender Pontus Jansson.

Recently signed on loan from Torino the giant defender had a brilliant game and looks like a shrewd piece of business from the club this summer.

He spoke to BBC Radio Leeds after the game and made it clear he was now feeling settled at his new club and was ready to push on as a regular starter:

“I feel really happy. Now I am totally 100 per cent focused on Leeds.

“Tomorrow we have to start our focus for Blackburn on Tuesday. This is the only thing we can think about.”

Leeds take on Blackburn Rovers in their next game, who themselves have struggled so far this season.

The Swedish international certainly appears to be up for it, telling the BBC:

“Every game is important at Leeds. It’s a religion.

“We have to do everything to win.”

That sort of attitude is what Leeds United fans want and expect from their players. Too many of them went missing v Huddersfield this weekend and should be following the example led by the new boy in just his second appearance.

Hopefully they will at Ewood Park this week.
