The Leeds United Under-23s manager, Carlos Corberan, was disappointed with the behaviour of some of his players despite Monday’s 2-1 win against Hull City.

Leeds retained their position at the top of the Professional Development League thanks to goals from Ryan Edmondson and Jack Harrison, rendering Hull’s late reply nothing more than a consolation.

Speaking to the Whites’ official website, Corberan declared his side’s first half performance as one of the best he’s seen since taking the Thorp Arch reins at the start of last season, noting that much of it was spent in their opponents’ half of the pitch.

But the Spaniard was left to bemoan what he described as a ‘loss of focus’ from Leeds, resulting in a loss of control of the game.

“I think I am a little disappointed with the behaviour of some players,” he said. “Because I was waiting for them.

“We are working a lot with them during the week. When there is an opportunity to hurt the team they have to hurt the team.

“Then I like to see all of our players with full energy with all the minutes that they have, ready to help the team to continue playing good football.

“These guys are young, but you have to learn a lot (about) this because football is not waiting for anyone. If you don’t take advantage of the opportunities, you are missing the chances to continue growing up.”

Leeds fielded an experienced side against Hull, with nine of their starting XI – Jamal Blackman, Jamie Shackleton, Conor Shaughnessy, Barry Douglas, Jack Clarke, Lewis Baker, Tyler Roberts, Edmondson and Harrison – having appeared at first team level this season.
