Tyler Roberts made only his second appearance of the season for Leeds United as they were beaten in the Carabao Cup.

Tyler Roberts has taken to Twitter to reflect on the disappointment of Leeds’ Carabao Cup defeat to Preston North End on Tuesday night as well as his first call-up to Wales’ senior side ahead of the upcoming international break, while he also issued something of a rallying cry ahead of Whites’ crucial Championship clash later this week.
It has been a difficult start to life as a Leeds player for Roberts. After an injury sustained in one of his first training sessions following his January move ruled him out of the second-half of the season, he made his debut in the first round of the League Cup against Bolton Wanderers.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side’s success in the league has meant that Roberts has been unable to force his way into the picture most weekends, so he would have been hoping to impress when given a chance against the Lilywhites on Tuesday.
Unfortunately, Roberts failed to make an impact at Elland Road and Leeds suffered their first competitive defeat of the season as Preston came away with a 2-0 win despite playing much of the game with 10 men.

It was a disappointing night for the 19-year-old, but he has received an immediate boost with the news that Ryan Giggs has included him in the Wales squad for their upcoming games with Republic of Ireland and Denmark.
And after the news came through, Roberts took to Twitter to comment on the defeat, the call-up and Friday’s clash with Middlesbrough which could see Leeds go into the weekend six points clear of third at the top of the table should they beat Tony Pulis’ side.
