Tyler Roberts took to Twitter to react to Pablo Hernandez’s stunning winning goal during Leeds’ latest pre-season friendly – and the forward needed just one word to sum up exactly what he thought of the Spaniard’s brilliance.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side rounded off their tour of Australia with a 2-1 victory against Western Sydney Wanderers on Saturday. Mateusz Bogusz broke the deadlock inside 10 minutes in the brand new Bankwest Stadium, but the Whites needed a piece of stoppage-time magic to secure the win.
Hernandez collected the ball well outside the penalty area with just seconds of the four minutes added on remaining. He managed to dribble past five defenders as he danced through towards the penalty spot.
The 34-year-old then unleashed a brilliant finish into the corner of the net to win the game. Once again – of course, on a very different stage – Hernandez had come to Leeds’ rescue.
And Roberts – who missed the tour due to injury – provided a brilliantly succinct assessment of his teammate’s goal…
The way that Hernandez has started pre-season certainly suggests that he is ready to be the key man for Bielsa’s side once again during this coming season.
He was sensational last term as he scored 12 goals and provided 12 assists as Leeds reached the play-off semi-final. Understandably given how impressive the figures are, plenty wondered whether the attacking midfielder could repeat the trick again this coming year.
And while it remains to be seen how influential he proves to be once the Championship season kicks off again, he is providing the magic in pre-season that certainly hints that he is ready to take the starring role.
