The Whites captain has never won a senior cap for Scotland.

Leeds United captain Liam Cooper has truly turned a corner in the past few months, shaking off some prior criticism to become a well-appreciated fixture in Marcelo Bielsa’s starting XI.
The 27-year-old has been a consistent starter when fit, making 28 Championship appearances this term for the Whites and contributing to four goals (three scored, one assist), according to Transfermarkt.
Cooper has found himself criticised by some of the Leeds fanbase at times, one such example being after the 4-1 loss to West Bromwich Albion last year, but following the 1-0 win over Bristol City, in which he captained the Whites for the 100th time, the love shown to him by the fanbase was evident.
While he is impressing at club level, it’s interesting to notice that the former Scotland youth international has never been capped at senior level – indeed, he has only ever received one cap at Under-19 level, plus five for the Under-17s (Transfermarkt).
With the international break looming, the official Scotland National Team Twitter account published Alex McLeish’s call-up selection ahead of the Euro 2020 qualifiers against Kazakhstan and San Marino – and Cooper did not make the list.
Some Leeds fans took to the social media platform to make their feelings known:
