Leeds United have reportedly changed their stance on signing Coventry City striker Viktor Gyokeres with the Whites now cooling their interest in the forward following the arrival of Georginio Rutter.
According to Coventry Live, the Yorkshire side were keen on signing the Swedish talent before Rutter’s arrival, yet Jesse March’s move to bring the Frenchman to Elland Road has now seemingly ended any possibility of Gyokeres joining Leeds this January.
Valued at £18m according to Lancs Live, Gyokeres is regarded by many as one of the Championship’s best attackers, with the 24-year-old already on 12 goals for the season having hit 17 last year for Coventry, with Premier League interest now ramping up in the Swede.
As per Coventry Live, Brentford, Everton, Fulham, Southampton and Wolves are all chasing Gyokeres this January, yet Leeds were seemingly the favourites to sign the striker before the Whites changed tact and went all-out to sign Rutter in what was a club-record deal.

Indeed, with Leeds making their priorities clear this January, the likes of Everton and Wolves are now in the clear to sign Gyokeres this month, with the Championship superstar more than ready to make the leap from the Championship to the Premier League.
Hitting double figures two seasons in a row is no easy in feat in the Championship. And whilst Leeds might have passed on the chance to bring Gyokeres to the English top-flight, other Premier League clubs lacking in firepower will be foolish to not try and sign the Coventry superstar.
Leeds passing up on Gyokeres signing is huge for rival clubs

Gyokeres has been one of the standout talents in the Championship for the last 18 months. And with Leeds no longer chasing the forward, the door is now open for some Premier League clubs to try and bring the Swedish international into their ranks this January.
With 29 league goals in the last two seasons, Gyokeres would be a perfect signing for a top-flight side lacking that certain attacking edge, with the 24-year-old more than ready to make the jump from the Championship to the Premier League in 2023.
