Leeds United are reportedly exploring a deal to sign Weston McKennie, with Tottenham also interested in the American international whilst Arsenal are believed to have already made contact for the Juventus star.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the 24-year-old is now an option for Jesse March’s side as the Yorkshire giants look to sign a central midfielder this January, with McKennie on Leeds’ radar despite strong interest in recent days from the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham.

Gazzetta dello Sport reported this week that Mikel Arteta’s side have made contact with Juventus to sign McKennie, whilst Tuttosport have also recently claimed that Tottenham are eager to bring the former Schalke 04 superstar to north London.

With an asking price of £25m according to Corriere della Sera, McKennie would be quite the alluring option for many Premier League clubs this January. And with Leeds now interested in the midfielder, the race to sign the American is beginning to hot up in the final week of the window.

Indeed, Arsenal and Antonio Conte’s Tottenham interest could make things complicated for Leeds in their pursuit to sign McKennie. However, given the power Jesse Marsch has over the American market and the success stories of Brenden Aaronson and Tyler Adams at Elland Road, the Juventus star could be tempted by a move to Yorkshire.

Lauded by many during the 2022 FIFA World Cup, McKennie was one of the stars of the show for the US out in Qatar. And with Leeds establishing themselves under Marsch as the ideal landing spot in the Premier League for American talents, the midfielder signing for the Whites would be nothing short of a coup.

An all-action midfielder who can play numerous roles to great effect, McKennie would tick a lot of boxes for what Leeds are looking for in the market. And with his international midfield partner Adams already at the club, the Texas-born star will have no trouble in getting used to March’s style of play.
