Leeds United forward Joe Gelhardt could soon leave Elland Road on loan with Blackburn Rovers now interested in signing the attacker, with the Whites recently announcing the arrival of Georginio Rutter.
According to the Sun, the 20-year-old talent could leave the Yorkshire side on loan after Leeds’ FA Cup third-round replay against Cardiff City, with Blackburn now interested in signing Gelhardt as Leeds recently welcomed the arrival of Rutter from Hoffenheim.
A club-record signing at £36m according to BBC Sport, the 20-year-old French talent is expected to be a regular for Leeds in the coming seasons after Jesse Marsch laid out a huge financial undertaking to bring the former Bundesliga wonderkid to the Premier League.
Yet as a result of Rutter signing for Leeds, Gelhardt now has next-to-no chance of playing regular minutes for Leeds this season, with a loan move to Blackburn or a similar Championship club a good move for the England youth international.

Lauded as a ‘special talent’ by pundit Jamie Carragher, Gelhardt was huge last season in Leeds’ Premier League survival as the Whites confirmed safety on the final day of the league campaign. And given how much potential the youngster has, a loan spell to Blackburn could be a great move for the striker.
Indeed, Blackburn themselves are enjoying another impressive season that could see the Lancashire side return to the Premier League this year, and signing Gelhardt on loan could spur Jon Dahl Tomasson’s side to a play-off finish in the Championship.
Gelhardt will be smart to sign for Blackburn on loan

Blackburn have been one of the Championship’s standout sides this season, and for a player like Gelhardt, playing for the Rovers could be an excellent next step in the attacker’s development, especially with Leeds just signing a similar player in Rutter for a club-record fee.
We know that Gelhardt has the potential to become a superstar in the English game. Yet with Leeds adding to their attack, the youngster heading out on loan to the Championship seems perfect for the youngster, with Blackburn an ideal club for the attacking prospect.
