Napoli have reportedly formalised a contract offer to sign Wolves attacker Adama Traore as the Serie A leaders look to beat Leeds United to the Spanish international.

According to journalist Alfredo Pedulla, Napoli have taken a big step in trying to sign Traore for free this summer with the Wolves forward set to leave Molineux for nothing at the end of the season, with the winger already rejecting a contract offer with the Premier League side.

As per the report, Napoli are huge fans of Traore and view the former FC Barcelona star as the ideal attacking signing with Hirving Lozano expected to leave Naples in the summer. And for Leeds, this update will come as a huge blow for Jesse Marsch’s side.

90min recently claimed that Leeds are interested in signing Traore as a cost-effective transfer this January. However, it now appears that Napoli have taken a storming lead in the race to land the 26-year-old winger, who could be hugely tempted to move to Italy this summer.

Indeed, Napoli are the current Serie A leaders and the clear favourites to lift the Scudetto this season. And for Traore, signing for the European giants could be an alluring move, especially given how slow the division is compared to the Premier League.

Whilst Leeds would be a refreshing change of scenery, Traore’s form in recent seasons as well as his loan spell to Barcelona last year all indicate that the winger wants to leave England for good, and Napoli could not be a more perfect club for the Wolves star.

Serie A has proven to be a bastion of hope for Premier League players, with the likes of Chris Smalling, Edin Dzeko and Fikayo Tomori all thriving in Italy having left England for greener pastures. And Traore could easily become the next name to succeed if the forward signs for Napol.

After all, Napoli are one of the most attacking clubs in Europe and have proven this season to be a side with a huge future under Luciano Spalletti. And for Traore, signing for the Neapolitan giants could be a great career move for the attacker, who could become a superstar in Italy.
