Leeds are closing in on the signing of Georginio Rutter – now, Fabrizio Romano has shared an update on Azzedine Ounahi, who could follow him to Elland Road.

What’s the story?

Well, the reliable Italian journalist believes Leeds have completed the signing of Rutter from TSG Hoffenheim after striking a £28m agreement with the German side.

Now, Romano has shared what Victor Orta – Director of Football at Leeds – will focus on after the signing of Rutter is made official.

The Italian states that Leeds will turn their attention to signing Ounahi, who put his name up in lights with some stunning performances for Morocco at the World Cup.

In Qatar, the 22-year-old made seven appearances as Morocco became the first African side in history to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup.

Romano believes Leeds have already held talks with both Angers SCO as well as Ounahi’s representatives, and will decide what action to take once they have announced the signing of Rutter.

Napoli have already made an offer worth €15m (£13m) for the midfield maestro.

Romano adds that Paris Saint-Germain will not be signing Ounahi despite rumours claiming the French giants are interested, which will come as welcome news to Jesse Marsch and Leeds.

So far this season at club level, Ounahi has made 14 appearances in Ligue 1 for Angers SCO, failing to score or assist a goal.

Leeds showing ambition with Rutter & Ounahi deals

Despite their current situation, which sees them languishing two points above the relegation zone at the time of writing, Leeds must be commended for actively trying to do something about it.

Rutter – who has been compared to Neymar – seems like a fantastic signing, who should breathe new life into Marsch’s frontline.

In regards to Ounahi, the Moroccan would be a superb partner for Tyler Adams in midfield, and they could quickly become a fine pairing for Leeds.

Now, Marsch and Orta just need to improve the backline with one more addition following the arrival of Max Wober, and Leeds should then be in a strong position to avoid relegation.
