According to 90min, Jesse Marsch’s Leeds United have made a late bid to sign Leicester City target Tete, who was earlier offered to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur.

Leeds United have bid for Tete

90min are reporting this morning that Leeds have made a late bid to sign Tete on loan from Shakhtar Donetsk in the final days of the January transfer window.

However, Leicester City are in advanced talks over the 22-year-old, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger, and are confident of getting a deal done.

The 22-year-old, who tends to play as a right-winger but can also operate as auxiliary striker or as an attacking midfielder, has been on loan at Lyon since March 2022 due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, with FIFA suspending the contracts of all foreign players in the country.

Leicester are reportedly confident that they will agree on a deal with Tete, Lyon and Shakhtar, having held talks with all of them.

In demand

On December 23, 2023, 90min reported that Arsenal Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and West Ham United all have been offered the chance to sign Tete on loan from Shakhtar with a view to a permanent contract.

Arsenal have since signed winger Leandro Trossard from Brighton and Hove Albion, while Tottenham have brought in Arnaut Danjuma on loan from Villarreal.

As for Newcastle, the Magpies are reportedly keen on signing winger Anthony Gordon from Everton.

Stats

Tete has made 14 starts and three substitute appearances in Ligue 1 for Lyon so far this season.

The young Brazilian winger has scored six goals and given two assists in those matches.
